The deliver meal prep companies can help you create healthy, delicious meals that are affordable and easy to prepare. I remember spending hours or even days in the kitchen making the perfect meal. That was before my daughter was born. Below are a few of the recipes and ingredients I keep in stock. That way I don’t have reliance on take-out or delivery food. These recipes can be prepared ahead and frozen so I can whip them up any time of the week. They are versatile and made to be used in numerous ways.
Red Sauce. I always have a can filled with tomatoes and vegetables (carrots/squashes, onions, garlic etc.) in my pantry. These ingredients are all you need to create a delicious sauce. If you prefer to not cook, make a large batch and freeze them in smaller containers.
White Sauce. A little butter, a bit flour, and a cup of milk can be combined to create a delicious white sauce that you can top with pasta, pizza sauce, or lasagna sauce. It’s very easy to make, so I recommend you make it as soon as you need it. To melt 4 tablespoons butter, heat a heavy-bottom saucepan over low heat. Once the butter has melted, add 3 tablespoons flour. Whisk for 3 to 4 mins. Slowly whisk in 1 1/2 cups of milk. Heat on medium heat until smooth. Let stand for 5 minutes. Pizza. With flour, water, yeast and flour, you can make large batches of dough and then break them into smaller balls to freeze. If you have enough space, you can also roll them out and freeze them. Or, you can bake them, cool them, then freeze to allow for a quick thaw. Make large pizzas for meals, mini pizzas for snacks. You can make it super easy by using a stand mixer. Mix 1 cup of warm water with 1/4 oz active dried yeast. Then add 1 1/2 cups flower. 2 tablespoons olive oil, 1/2 teaspoon salt. Add 1 to 1 and 1/2 cups flour slowly. The dough should be well-kneaded. Knead for 5 min, then cover the bowl with oil and place it in a covered bowl. Cover it with a kitchen towels and let rise until the dough has doubled in size. This should take approximately an hour. Next, roll out the dough onto a floured surface. Form it into a rectangular or circular shape. Sprinkle with your favorite toppings. Bake at 400F until golden brown, about 20 minutes depending on your climate. Adapted using ‘The New Basics Cook Book.
